Potassium Chlorate and Gummy Bear
This experiment illustrates a strong oxidation reaction! The reactants are potassium chlorate and a gummy bear.
A gummy bear is mainly composed of sugar, and the molten potassium chlorate (KClO3) can oxidize it strongly! The sugar is converted to water and carbon dioxide and the potassium chlorate becomes KCl!
The reaction is so strong that it emits an intense pink light!
What a spectacular death for a gummy bear!
